It seemed like Josh was just suggesting a friendly gathering out of the goodness of his heart, a nice surprise for the sibling, who was usually the one to take the lead when it came to this type of reunion. So, with no reason to decline, the group met at the diner and ordered some food. Here’s where the actual drama fires up. Also, the sibling’s order, while apparently very expensive, low-key looks absolutely divine. We might have to try it out next time we go out for breakfast. Bottomless coffee and OJ are just the cherry on top.

The sibling did admit he was not exactly holding back price-wise. However, nobody seemed to care (at first). Let’s remind ourselves that looks are, in fact, very much deceiving.

Here’s where we reach the turning point. Josh had planned on paying all along, but he had clearly not planned to pay THAT much. But hey, he did tip decently, at least.

A lot of things can be said about this very particular quarrel, but not that it was really “unexpected”. As it seems, these gatherings were quite usual (alongside the sibling’s expensive food orders). In other words, Josh should have known that the sibling’s order was going to stay exactly as it had been for 8 years. Perhaps there is something entirely different happening: we think Josh might be misplacing his stress over his own financial struggle by blaming the sibling. Maybe he just wants to make a good impression on his wife and his brother-in-law, and the situation just took a toll on him. We believe in the benefit of the doubt, although some users disagree and entirely see Josh as the villain here. Some even took Josh’s actions to heart and are really (really) mad at him. Watch out, Josh. Some even went as far as to blame the sister, suspecting that it was her who started the fight behind the scenes.

In any case, we would really like to see this family reconcile and continue to enjoy their price-controversial breakfast together. We suggest splitting the bill next time, rather than having one person pay the whole thing. Also, let's hope they have learned from this experience and started to communicate in a more assertive way.
Who do you think was in the wrong here? What advice would you give this family unit so they can move on from this mishap? And, more importantly, what is your go-to breakfast order? (Asking for a friend).
